HANDYMAN & CASUAL FACILITIES ASSISTANT
Sherborne St John Parish Council is looking for a practical and reliable person to provide flexible support with the maintenance of our community buildings, grounds and facilities.
This is a casual role with no guaranteed regular hours. It would suit someone locally based who has practical handyman skills and would be interested in occasional paid work.
Duties may include:
- Cleaning
- minor repairs and handyman tasks;
- basic decorating;
- minor grounds and external maintenance;
- inspections for health & safety and recording
- moving furniture and equipment;
- identifying and reporting maintenance problems;
- helping with the practical set-up of community events;
- providing occasional facilities cover during staff absence; and
- other practical tasks associated with the Council’s buildings and facilities.
You don’t need to be qualified in a particular trade, but you should be confident undertaking basic practical maintenance tasks safely and knowing when a job requires a qualified contractor.
You should be;
- practical and able to work independently;
- reliable and trustworthy;
- willing to undertake a variety of tasks;
- safety conscious;
- comfortable working in community buildings; and
- reasonably flexible about when occasional work can be undertaken.
Rate: TBC
Hours: Casual/as required – no guaranteed hours
